The regional workshop titled "Military Experts’ Roundtable on the Integration of International Humanitarian Law into Military Decision-Making" concluded on Wednesday. The event was organized by JAF in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross in Jordan.The Head of the Planning and Defense Capabilities Development Department at the Directorate of Planning and Organization stated that the convening of this workshop comes within the framework of the JAF’s commitment to strengthening the concepts of international humanitarian law within military planning and execution systems, and to embed its principles in both thought and practice, in line with the Kingdom’s international obligations and its established humanitarian role.For his part, Jan Fredrik, Head of the ICRC Delegation in Jordan, commended the distinguished efforts exerted by JAF in this field and their pioneering role in promoting the principles of international humanitarian law at both the regional and international levels.The three-day workshop included presentations of the experiences of JAF and their counterparts in the region in integrating IHL principles into military planning and execution systems, as well as discussions on best practices and mechanisms to ensure respect for IHL rules during military operations.At the end, participants emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between JAF and the ICRC to promote legal and humanitarian awareness within the military environment, and to develop mechanisms for regional coordination and consultation among participating states, contributing to the advancement of human security and peace.The closing session, attended by a number of senior officers from JAF and from friendly nations, included the distribution of certificates to participants.It is noteworthy that the workshop saw the participation of representatives from several friendly countries, accredited military and defense attachés to the Kingdom, and a number of experts in international humanitarian law.
