At dawn on Wednesday, the Eastern Military Region, within its area of responsibility, successfully thwarted an infiltration and smuggling attempt involving large quantities of narcotics from Syrian territory into Jordan.

An officer at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces stated: "Border Guard forces in the Eastern Military Region, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, managed to foil an infiltration and smuggling attempt involving a significant quantity of narcotics."

The officer explained that a group of smugglers was detected attempting to illegally cross the border. In response, rapid reaction patrols were deployed and applied the rules of engagement, forcing the smugglers to retreat back into Syrian territory. Upon intensifying search and inspection operations in the area, large quantities of narcotics were seized and handed over to the relevant authorities.

He reaffirmed that the JAF operate with full strength and determination to prevent all forms of infiltration and smuggling, and to deter anyone who attempts to compromise the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
